Should board members be expected to make financial donations to their non-profit organisations?
This report examines and discuss the different attitudes or policies surrounding compulsory Board Member donation and financial contributions by board members to the non-profit organisations which they govern. This report will compare the American model of compulsory personal donation to the organisation with the Australian attitude, typified by a reluctance to request or enforce donations from board members. This report explores the difference in the culture of non-profit boards, fundraising and philanthropy between Australia and the United States of America and assess why these differences exist. It also considers the positive and negative outcomes of each model.
